Eye Examinations
Every eye examination starts with a discussion, to ensure that we can capture a comprehensive case history, so that each test is tailored to your needs.
We use state-of-the-art technology and hospital-grade equipment for every eye examination, including a high-powered digital Slit Lamp BIO-Microscope capable of examining all the structures of the eye. This allows us to capture detailed images of the eye including the eyelid, sclera, conjunctiva, iris, natural crystalline lens, cornea and retina for documentation and/or referral.
Capturing accurate diagnostic and eye related examination results, allows us to monitor and review many eye conditions. These results can also be used to forward to a suitably qualified Consultant Ophthalmologist, which can often expedite the referral process to the next eye care professional, if needed.
Mark will be available to conduct each eye examination, providing continuity of service and a single point of contact for all your eye related conditions. This also includes time to advise on high quality, perfectly fitting spectacles, along with detailed product knowledge in choosing suitable and appropriate lenses for work, hobbies and social events.
Specialist Clinics
With a keen interest in eye health, Mark has chosen to specialise in Glaucoma.
Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that can cause vision loss and blindness by damaging the optic nerve in the back of your eye. Glaucoma does not usually cause any symptoms initially, it tends to develop slowly over many years and affects your peripheral vision first. For this reason, many people do not realise they have glaucoma, and it is often only picked up during a routine eye test.
Glaucomatous damage is permanent and irreversible. However, medical intervention and careful monitoring can help to stop or slow down any further damage.
Mark has gained a number of additional Glaucoma qualifications from the University of Bradford. He has also spent time and been involved with the renowned Glaucoma Team at the Stanley Eye Unit in Abergele. He has since completed his specialist clinical training, which now enables him to help and monitor patients with Glaucoma and Ocular Hypertension within the community.
We believe that this specialism will not only be of value to the patients that Mark sees, it is also likely to benefit our local area, by taking on some of the hospital’s ever-increasing workload, by managing patients in a primary care setting.
Understanding the progression of Glaucoma is central to managing the disease. We have invested in state-of-the-art equipment that delivers both exceptional visualisation and precision measurement applications of the eye. This allows us to capture, monitor and assess the defects and patterns of loss that characterise typical disease progression, ensuring a timely referral to a network of Specialist Consultant Ophthalmologists, if needed.
Ultimately, our knowledge and specialist equipment will allow us to discover, track and analyse single pathological events from multiple points of view for greater certainty regarding your next important steps in treatment and peace of mind when it comes to your family’s ocular health.
Emergency and Diagnostic Clinics
The practice is accredited to perform WGOS appointments (Wales General Ophthalmic Services), which are NHS-funded emergency eye care services for residents of Wales. This includes addressing issues such as a red, painful eye, sudden loss/changes in vision, double vision, flashing lights/floaters, some foreign bodies and other sudden eye-related health concerns. We reserve appointment slots at every clinic for emergencies to ensure prompt care for those in need.
Additionally, we can conduct Pre-Operative and Post-Operative assessments on behalf of the NHS for certain Ophthalmic procedures, such as Cataract Surgery, to help reduce the need for multiple visits to the hospital.
